its Time.

It’s time.

Sometimes, when you work on something, plan for something, work, breathe eat and sleep something, it can be hard to know when the time comes to reveal what you have been working on. And that’s when all the fear and second guessing kicks in. And for some women, especially older women, we spend our lives looking out for others and putting everyone else first. So when it comes to carving out the time for something we work on, it can be a battle. Balancing feeding family with washing, working and shopping and looking after elderly relatives, it’s a lot.

But that’s where wonderful friends step in, and give great advice.

One of my dearest friends sat me down and told me in very honest terms, that it was now time to get Margot 21 out into the real world. I could keep her secret for the rest of my life, and no one would care because they wouldn’t know, and the fact that I have spent years making and designing her and the other wee things I am working on and developing and paying for all these things would be ok. But … if I wanted other people to see her and come with me on this studio Margonette voyage, then it was time to get her out of her dark corner.

I like using the word “Voyage”. When I hear that word, it makes me think of crossing oceans and visiting exotic wonderful places, it has more depth of meaning than “Journey”. That word has become a pale advertising slogan, but “Voyage”means going on an epic adventure.

This feels like an epic adventure to me because for me, it has been epic. At a time in life where are lot of women are getting ready to start thinking about retiring or beginning a toned down version of life, mine has taken a turn and I decided to follow a deeply held dream that I have had since I was a little girl. To see where it goes, good or bad.

So here in the in this part of the site, I am going to be talking about the behind the scene things I am up to, to bring this into the light. And just in case there may be someone else reading this who has wanted to do something specific to them for as long as they can remember, then maybe this will help encourage them to just go and see what happens. You never know. I don’t know, but I want to find out. We are in this together now, it’s nice you are here. See you next week.

ついに、その時が来ました。

何かを長い時間かけて作り続けていると、いつそれを世に出すべきなのか分からなくなることがあります。

毎日それのことを考え、計画し、作業し、息をして、食べて、眠って…。

そして「いよいよ発表しよう」と思った瞬間に、不安や迷いが一気に押し寄せてくるものです。

特に年齢を重ねた女性の多くは、これまでずっと周りの人を優先して生きてきました。

家族の世話、洗濯、仕事、買い物、年配の家族のお世話…。

自分の夢のための時間をつくることは、簡単ではありません。

そんな時に支えてくれるのが、素晴らしい友人たちです。

私の大切な友人のひとりが、ある日まっすぐにこう言ってくれました。

「もう、Margot 21 を外の世界へ出す時だよ」と。

このままずっと秘密のままにしていても、それはそれで問題はありません。

誰にも知られず、何年もかけて作り、デザインし、準備してきたことも、きっと誰にも気づかれないまま終わるでしょう。

でももし、この Studio Margonette の“航海”に、誰かと一緒に出発したいのなら。

Margot 21 を、暗い隅から外へ連れ出す時なのだと。

私は「Journey」よりも「Voyage」という言葉が好きです。

Voyage には、海を越え、未知の場所へ向かうような、少し大きな冒険の響きがあります。

そして今の私にとって、これはまさにそんな航海です。

人生の中で、多くの女性が少しずつペースを落としたり、静かな時間を考え始める頃。

私はあえて、子どもの頃から心の奥にあった夢を追いかける道を選びました。

うまくいくかどうかは分かりません。

でも、行ってみたいのです。

このページでは、Studio Margonette を形にしていく舞台裏のことを、少しずつお話ししていきます。

もし、長い間ずっと心の中にしまってきた「やってみたいこと」を持っている方がいたら、

この物語が、ほんの少しでも背中を押せたら嬉しいです。

結果は分かりません。

でも、確かめに行きたい。
