New fashion Doll coming.

After all this time, I am now in talks with a factory, and the modelling process is nearly complete. It’s been a very long process. This will be the second-root type. There was a prototype for kids and the version was a child like doll with a height of 18 inches.

While my niece just loved her doll that was named after her, there were a bunch of issues with it. The factory were just lovely but … the dolls weren’t right. They were also too big. But it was a good opportunity to learn and for me to able to work out what I did want to achieve.

The process was completely different this time around. So far, according to the 3d prints I have had done, the doll is looking lovely. I really like the body shape. It has the vintage feel I was trying to achieve. I won’t know about the face until the face up is done and this is where there may be issues. I need Margot 21 to look like a 1950s model, not a 2026 K-pop star. I won’t have to worry about that until the moles have been made and the resin has been poured. Next Wednesday, I’ll show you the actual designs I did, in drawing form and 3d form and let you know how I reached this part of the process.

Rest assured however, the doll is most definitely going to look like the doll on the studio instagram posts. What you see is what you will get. This is exciting.

新しいファッションドールが誕生します。

長い時間を経て、ついに現在は工場との打ち合わせが進み、モデリングの工程ももうすぐ完成に近づいています。本当に長い道のりでした。

今回は「第二のルート」となるタイプです。以前には子ども向けの試作があり、18インチの身長を持つ、少し子どもらしいドールとして制作されていました。

姪は自分の名前がついたそのドールをとても気に入ってくれましたが、実際にはいくつかの課題もありました。工場の方々はとても素晴らしかったのですが…ドールとしては理想とは少し違っていたのです。そしてサイズも少し大きすぎました。でも、その経験は私にとって大きな学びとなり、自分が本当に目指したいものをはっきりさせる大切な機会になりました。

今回はまったく異なるプロセスで進めています。これまで制作した3Dプリントを見る限り、とても美しく仕上がってきています。ボディラインもとても気に入っていて、目指していたヴィンテージ感がしっかり表現されています。

顔については、フェイスアップが完成してからでないとわかりませんし、ここが課題になる可能性もあります。Margot 21 には、2026年のK-popスターではなく、1950年代のモデルのような雰囲気を持っていてほしいのです。本格的な心配は、型が完成し、レジンが流し込まれてからになるでしょう。

来週の水曜日には、私が制作した実際のデザインを、ドローイングと3Dの両方でお見せし、このプロセスに至るまでのお話もお伝えする予定です。
